The Government of Punjab on October 18, 2023, issued a notification regarding the amendment of the Punjab Groundwater Extraction and Conservation Directions, 2023.
The amendment states the following: -
•In the Punjab Groundwater Extraction and Conservation Directions, 2023:
1. In Chapter 4
(a) In paragraph 4.8, in the first paragraph of sub-paragraph D, the words ‘within three months of the date of permission’ wherever occurring be deleted.
(b) In paragraph 4.8, in the second paragraph of sub-paragraph D, for the words ‘of three months from the date of permission’ the words ‘as stipulated by the Authority in paragraph 5.1 C’ be substituted.
•In Chapter 5 in paragraph 5.1, for sub-paragraph C, the following shall be substituted: ‘A User shall install the required water meters within such time period as stipulated by the Authority.’
•This amendment shall be deemed to have come into force on and with effect from February 01, 2023.
