The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on October 23, 2023, issued the Draft Methodology for Water Harvesting-based Green Credit.
The following provisions have been stated:
• Type of Project:
Water harvesting projects
• Project proponent:
Eligible project proponents: All persons and entities including individuals/FPOs/Cooperatives/Forest Management Committees/ Sustainable Agricultural Enterprises/SHGs/Eco-development committees/Urban and rural local bodies.
• Site Selection:
Any Government/ Panchayat/ community land/ individual land suitable for setting up water harvesting structure Projects.
• Water conservation/ harvesting structures:
Based on the on-site location, appropriate water conservation/ harvesting structures like earthen ponds and poly tanks shall be established. The minimum size/storage capacity of water conservation/harvesting structures will be.
100 cu m or 1 lakh liter Maximum Size: 10,000 cu m
It will be taken into consideration on or after the expiry of 15 days from the date of publication of the draft in the official Gazette.
