EHS ComplianceThe Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on October 27, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Grant of consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974, the Air Act, 1981, and the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 as amended from authorization to Health Care Facilities (HCFs). 

The following has been stated: -

•In view of the facts it has been decided that HCFSs up to 30-bed capacity which are discharging their liquid waste into the public sewer and operating within MC limits of towns, where terminal sewage treatment plants (STPS) have been installed, shall be granted consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981 as well as authorization by Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) without installation of individual ETPs, as an interim arrangement, subject to the condition that HCFS shall ensure to comply with the effluent standards as notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under Bio-medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 as amended up to date and subsequent amendments if any.

This order will supersede the earlier office orders passed by the Board about the issue aforementioned and shall come into force with immediate effect.
