The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on November 01, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Draft Procedure for Verification of Captive Status of Such Generating Plants, where the Captive Generating Plant and its Captive Users Are Located in more than one state
The following has been stated namely: -
• The objective of this procedure is to verify the captive status of such generating plants by the Authority where Captive Generating Plants and their Users are located in more than one State.
• It states that This procedure shall be applicable to all power plants and end users who desire to submit their claim for verification as CGP and associated Captive users to the Authority in accordance with sub-rule (3) of Rule 3 of the Electricity Rules, 2005
• It states that The consumption of electricity by the Captive users shall be either directly or through the Energy Storage System.
• The consumption of electricity by a subsidiary company of a company that is a Captive user shall also be admissible as captive consumption by the Captive user.
• The consumption of electricity by a holding company of a company that is a Captive user shall also be admissible as captive consumption by the Captive user.]
• It states that the Verification of the status of CGP and Captive users shall be on an annual basis.
• The CGP shall submit an application along with the requisite documents to the Verifying Authority.
All Stakeholders including the public are requested to send comments as per the format attached in Annexure- 1, the comment shall be sent via mail to [email protected] latest by December 01, 2023
