EHS ComplianceThe Government of Punjab on October 25, 2023, issued a circular regarding the regulated sale and use of firecrackers in compliance with Orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and the Hon'ble National Green Tribunal

The following directions have been issued namely: -

• The manufacture, stock, distribution, sale, and use of joined firecrackers (series crackers or laries) have been banned in the whole of the State.

• It states that Only the green crackers (those crackers that do not use barium salt compounds of antimony, lithium, mercury, arsenic, lead, or strontium chromate) would be allowed for sale and use in the State of Punjab.

• The sale shall be through licensed traders for the permitted firecrackers only.

• No licensee shall store, display, or sell any firecrackers whose decibel levels are not within the permitted limits.

• In the State, only green crackers would be allowed and strictly for a very short duration on the following days and times as per the table attached.

• No e-commerce websites including Flipkart, Amazon, etc. shall accept any online orders and affect online sales within the State of Punjab.

• An extensive public awareness campaign shall be undertaken by the Deputy Commissioners to inform the public about the harmful effects of firecrackers.

• The police authorities shall ensure that the sale and use of allowed green firecrackers only take place during the permitted time and at designated places
