The Government of Puducherry on November 07, 2023, issued the list of Public Holidays for 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• All Government Offices/Government Undertakings, Boards, and other Institutions under the control of the Government of Puducherry, and all Banking Institutions including Co-operative Banks in the Union territory of Puducherry shall be closed on the days specified in the notification in Appendix-I and Appendix-II, respectively, during the Calendar Year 2024.
• The festivals which fall on Sundays and Saturdays, respectively, during the year 2024, have been excluded from the Holidays List in order to observe 16 holidays in a year, these are namely: -
1. April 14, 2024, Sunday - Dr. Ambedkar’s Birthday/Tamil New Year’s Day
2. September 07, 2024, Saturday - Vinayagar Chathurthi
• Each Government Servant is to avail of any 2 (two) holidays to be chosen by him/her out of the list of Restricted Holidays in Appendix-III.
• No substitute holidays shall be allowed on any event for the festival holidays initially declared.
