The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on November 23, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Imposition of a Minimum Export Price on the export of Onions
This shall come into force on November 23, 2023
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the following consignments of onions shall be allowed to be exported without MEP namely: -
(i) Where onions consignment has been handed over to the Customs before October 29, 2023 (the date from which Notification No.42/2023 and is registered in their system / where onions consignment has entered the Customs station for exportation before this Notification and is registered in the electronic systems of the concerned Custodian of the Customs Station with verifiable evidence of the date and time stamping of these commodities having entered the Customs Station prior to October 29, 2023 (the date from which the Notification No.42/2023 dated The period of export shall be upto November 30, 2023.
(ii) It states that the Export duty has been paid before the issuance of this Notification. Such export duty is non – non-refundable.
• It states that the Export of onions is 'Free'. The minimum Export Price of US $ 800 F.O.B per Metric Ton (MT) is imposed till December 31, 2023
• It further states that Notification No. 42/2023 dated October 29, 2023, relating to the Export Policy of Onions has been superseded.
