The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) on November 20, 2023, issued the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules, 2023 to further amend the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017.
The following amendment has been stated:
• In rule 15, which states “Rules for Accessibility” in sub-rule (1), after clause (g), the following clause (h) has been inserted, namely:
“(h) rural sector specific harmonized accessibility standards/guidelines, as specified in the notification of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India vide notification number G.S.R. 77, dated June 26, 2023.”
This notification will come into force from November 20, 2023.
