The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on November 10, 2023, issued an advisory regarding malicious calls.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Malicious calls claiming that mobile numbers will be disconnected within two hours are being made, which are fraudulent and is attempting to deceive and exploit individuals.
• DoT does not make calls threatening disconnection. Citizens are not to provide personal information if they receive such calls.
• Please verify the authenticity of such calls with your service providers.
• Report such calls at the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
