Labour ComplianceThe Government of Jammu and Kashmir on November 07, 2023, issued a notification regarding the amendment to the Jammu and Kashmir Building & Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Condition of Services) Rules, 2006.

The following has been amended namely: -

• The Rule 22 (T) That specifies for financial assistance for education the sub-rule (1) shall be substituted by the following namely:-

(1) The children of the beneficiary shall be entitled to financial assistance by the Board in the shape of scholarship categorized as per the following scale per academic year:-

• The Rule 22 (U) that specifies the financial assistance for marriage shall be substituted by the following; namely: -

 22-U. Financial Assistance for Marriage

(i) Financial assistance of Rs. 50,000/- (rupees fifty thousand) shall be paid by the Board for the marriage of the construction worker or his/ her dependent real daughters and sons. However, the assistance will be restricted to two dependents only.

(ii) The age of the beneficiary should be as per the existing laws in vogue.

(iii) The registered beneficiary shall have to produce a certificate from the Tehsildar concerned certifying that the beneficiary has not married in a lifetime prior to the date of applying for marriage assistance.

(iv) Certificate of dependence, to be issued by the competent revenue authority concerned, shall have to be produced and appended with the form.

(v) The beneficiary will submit a certificate to be issued by the competent authority in the Revenue Department.

(vi) As additional proof, a Muslim beneficiary will submit a copy of Nikah¬Nama, and followers of other religions may produce any certificate as per their religious customs issued by the religious Institutions (if applicable. SIKH beneficiary will submit Anand Karaj issued by the Gurdwara parbandhak committee.

(vii) The beneficiary shall, at the time of submission of the application form enclose the NOC of the Social Welfare Department or the Board, as a case may be to the effect that "he/ she has not availed any financial assistance for marriage either from the Social Welfare Department or from the Board for the purpose,"
