The University Grants Commission (UGC) on December 01, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Professor of Practice initiative
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the Professor of Practice initiative aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by incorporating professionals, practitioners, policymakers, and other experts into the academic realm.
• It states that this approach intends to infuse real-world practices and experiences into classrooms, by enriching the learning experience for students.
• It states that this symbiotic relationship between industry and academia is poised to yield graduates who are not only academically proficient but also possess the practical skills demanded by the workforce.
• It further states that the UGC launched the Professor of Practice portal on May 16, 2023, This portal serves as a platform where professionals from various domains can register and contribute their expertise to the Higher Education system
• It directs the Higher Education Institutions to furnish the details of their faculty members appointed through the Professor of Practice portal and provide their details at the UGC University Activity Monitoring portal at https://uamp.ugc.ac.in/ by December 10, 2023.
