The Government of Odisha on November 18, 2023, issued an Expression of Interest from Container Shipping Companies for Viability Gap Funding to Start Shipping Containerized Cargo Export/Import through Paradeep Port (Odisha).
Companies in Odisha import and export large amounts of containerized cargo mostly through seaports located outside of Odisha, incurring additional transportation costs. The government of Odisha wants these enterprises to import and export through Paradeep Port (Odisha), which will not only lower their logistical costs but will also contribute to the state's flourishing trade and commerce sector.
Though such container shipping operations to/from Paradeep Port will be commercially sustainable, the State Government is open to exploring providing financial assistance to container shipping companies during the initial months in the unlikely event that their shipping operation is not commercially profitable.
Therefore, an Expression of Interest for viability gap funding is hereby invited from interested container shipping companies which should be submitted (along with a detailed shipping operation plan) to the undersigned at the following address by December 31, 2023.
