DoT discontinues the Paper-based KYC process for adequate verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers

Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on December 05, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Discontinuation of Paper-based KYC process for adequate verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The enrollment of customers for issuing mobile connection(s) used to be done using a Paper-based KYC process i.e., by filling the paper Customer Acquisition Form (CAF), pasting of photographs on the CAF, annexing of Proof of Identity (Pol) & Proof of Address (PoA) documents with CAF, etc.

• It has been now decided that the use of Paper-based KYC process shall be discontinued with effect from January 01, 2024.
