The Government of Karnataka on December 05, 2023, published the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2023 to further amend the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993
This shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from September 16, 2023.
The following has been amended namely: -
• In section 160 which states “elected members”, in the first proviso, before the word “Chikkamagalur” the words, brackets, and punctuation “Shivamogga (excluding Bhadravati, Shivamogga, and Shikaripura Taluks),” shall be inserted.
• It further states that the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023 is hereby repealed.
