The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on December 05, 2023, issued a notification regarding the International Code of Safety for High-Speed Crafts and its applicability.
The following has been stated: -
•Noting that IMO has issued various amendments to the HSC Code 1994 and HSC Code 2000 from time to time, which is annexed to this Order at Annexure- 1. As defined in the Merchant Shipping Act, such amendments to the SOLAS Convention are already in effect and applicable to Indian vessels.
•The stakeholders are therefore required to be guided by this Order towards compliance with the provisions of the International Code of Safety for High-Speed Crafts 1994 and 2000 to give full effect to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. A detailed guidance to the construction, survey, and certification requirements for High-Speed Passenger and Cargo Crafts is in Annexure - ll for compliance.
