The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) on December 13, 2023, notified the draft Ghee Grading and Marking Rules, 2023 in supersession of the principal rule of Ghee Grading and Marking Rules, 1938.
The following has been stated: -
•Rule 2 lays down various definitions of the terms like General Grading and Marking Rules, Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, and others.
•Rule 3 talks about the Grade designation mark.
•Rule 7 talks about the method of marking.
•Rule 9 mentions the Minimum infrastructure requirement.
They shall apply to Ghee manufactured from milk or milk fat products like butter or cream or combination.
Objections or suggestions that may be received from any person with respect to the said draft rules before the expiry of forty-five days from December 14, 2023, shall be taken into consideration by the Central Government.
They shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette.
