The State Pollution Control Board, Odisha (SPCB) on December 04, 2023, issued a notification regarding the disposal of Hazardous Waste generated from Industries/Mines.
The following has been stated: -
•This has come to the notice of the Board that some Actual Users are lifting Hazardous wastes from the various generators without entering the quantities of such wastes in the Passbook issued by the concerned SPCBs/ PCCs.
The authorized actual user of hazardous and other wastes shall maintain records of hazardous and other wastes purchased in a passbook issued by the State Pollution Control Board along with the authorization.
Handing over the hazardous and other wastes to the authorized actual user shall be only after making the entry into the passbook of the actual user.
•Therefore, it has been instructed to follow the said provision of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 (HOWM) while handing over the hazardous waste to the Actual Users. Deviation to it shall be viewed seriously and action as deemed fit will be initiated against your unit without further notice.
