The Ministry of Law and Justice (MoL&J) on December 18, 2023, issued the Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2023, to further amend the Central Universities Act, 2009.
The following amendments have been stated:
• After section 3F, which states “Establishment of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Gujarat” the following section 3G has been inserted, namely:
“3G. There shall be established a Tribal University, which shall be a body corporate, to be known as the Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, having its territorial jurisdiction extending to the whole of the State of Telangana, as specified in the First Schedule to this Act, to provide avenues of higher education and research facilities primarily for the tribal population of India.”
This notification will come into force from December 18, 2023.
