The Central Government on December 18, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Telecommunications Bill, 2023.
The following has been stated: -
•It extends to, —
(i) the whole of India; and
(ii) to any offense committed or contravention made outside India by any person, as provided in this Act.
•Section 2 lays down various definitions for terms like "critical telecommunication infrastructure", "National Frequency Allocation Plan" and others.
•Section 3 talks about the Powers of Authorisation and Assignment.
•Section 4 talks about the Assignment of spectrum.
•Section 8 talks about the Establishment of monitoring and enforcement mechanisms.
It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the commencement of that provision.
