The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAHD) on December 12, 2023, issued the Direction issued under the prevention and control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Only the animals having Tag IDs shall be eligible for slaughtering/processing from April 01, 2024.
• The following protocol must be followed namely: -
1. The Bharat Pashudhan digital platform under the National Digital Livestock Mission (NDLM) has to be used and the particulars of the animal being considered for slaughter/meat processing have to be recorded.
2. All check posts/Veterinary Hospitals shall check that all animals are tagged in such consignments.
3. If an untagged animal reaches the slaughterhouse, the concerned Government veterinarian in-charge shall tag or arrange for tagging of such animal.
• The process flow for entering data in respect of animals for Slaughter/processing has been stated in the Annexure of the notification.
