The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on December 22, 2023, notified regarding the amendments to the International Convention for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 (COLREGs) and its applicability.
The Recognised Organizations (RO) were notified vide notification dated December 26, 2014, and as indicated, an agreement was entered into with each RO to carry out surveys and certification as per the Convention.
The IMO has issued various amendments to the Convention from time to time which is annexed to this Order at Annexure 1.
It will be applicable to Indian vessels and foreign vessels sailing within Indian jurisdiction as defined in the Merchant Shipping Act.
The stakeholders are therefore required to be guided by this Order towards compliance with the provisions to give full effect to the International Convention on Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 and its amendments.
