The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on December 22, 2023, issued Amendments to Chanter V- Safety of Navigation under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS) and its applicability-reg.
The following has been stated:
• The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has issued various amendments to chapter V of SOLAS from time to time which is annexed to this order at "Annexure- 1". As defined in the Merchant Shipping Act, such amendments to the convention are already in effect and applicable to Indian vessels.
• Further, it has asked the stakeholders to be guided by this order towards compliance with the provisions to give full effect to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea and the mandatory codes.
