Industry Specific ComplianceThe University Grants Commission (UGC) on December 26, 2023, issued a circular regarding the Discontinuation of M.Phil. Degree under the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations,2022

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that Regulation No. 14 of the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2022 (https://www.usc.gov.inlpdfriews/09O9572-Minimum-Standards-and-Procedure-for-Award-ofPhD-Degree.pdf. clearly states that Higher Educational Institutions shall not offer M.Phil. program, it further states that the M.Phil. degree is not a recognized degree.

• It states that University authorities are requested to take immediate steps to stop admissions to the M.Phil. program for the 2023-24 academic year. Further, students are advised not to be admitted to M.Phil. Program.
