BSE notified regarding the Additional Reason codes for UPI Clients

Secretarial ComplianceThe Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on January 01, 2024, issued the notification regarding the Segregation and Monitoring of Collateral at Client Level (Additional Reason codes for UPI Clients).

The following has been stated namely: -

• Members are allowed to report the amount of client collateral available against short allocation due to prescribed reasons, along with the respective reason codes.

• A few reason codes have been added.

• The new reason codes “09” & ”10” shall be available only for the clients using the UPI block facility and shall not be available for other clients.

• Following are the particulars of the said reason codes: -

1. 09 - UPI block successfully created however accepted later (For clients using UPI block facility.  Applicable only for intra-day shortfall where snapshot field is other than “E”)

2. 10 - Credit in lieu of successful early pay-in of securities to CC (For clients using UPI block facility).

• As per the existing practice in case of instances of Intraday/EOD short allocation; members shall have an opportunity to report the amount of client collateral available with permitted reasons. In case of such reporting, the penalty will not be applicable. The same is also applicable for additional reason codes for clients using the UPI block facility.
