The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) on December 29, 2023, issued the Standard Operating Procedure for determination of the Net Quantity of Commodities (Edible Oils & Fats) contained in any Package.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This document and procedure is applicable whenever the Director, Controller, or any Legal Metrology Officer authorized by or under the Act, any sample from any manufacturing plant/in transit/CFA/market for determination of the net quantity of packed Commodity (edible oils & fats) or to confirm any other requirement specified under Legal Metrology Rules/guidelines/advisories.
• The Determination of the Net Quantity of Commodities in Packages has been divided into two parts:
1. Equipment – Equipments required, Working standards to be ordinarily used, etc.
2. Instructions with regard to the determination of quantity and error at the manufacturer’s or packer’s premises.
