Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Kerala on January 06, 2024, issued a notification regarding Operation Amrit - Action for selling medicine without a prescription.

The following has been stated: -

•To prevent the overuse of antibiotics, the Drug Control Department is launching tests called Operation Amrit (AMRITH- Antimicrobial Resistance Intervention for Total Health). 

•The public can report any pharmacies selling antibiotics without a prescription. Pharmacies must keep accurate records of antibiotic sales. A poster saying 'antibiotics not sold without doctor's prescription' should be displayed in the establishment. Strict action will be taken against pharmacies and medical stores that supply antibiotics without a doctor's prescription.
