The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on January 19, 2024 issued an advisory to the Local Cable Operator to have valid registration at the time of Interconnection Agreements with Multi-System Operators
The following has been stated namely: -
• It has mandated that individuals can only operate a cable television network if they have obtained registration as a cable operator under this Act
• It states that the LCOs are advised to adhere to the regulations and have valid registration at the time of Interconnection Agreements with Multi-System Operators (MSOs).
• It further states that any Local Cable Operator found to be operating without a valid postal registration shall be subject to appropriate action in accordance with existing regulations.
• The MSOs are also advised to enter into Interconnection Agreements with only those LCOs who have valid registration.
