The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) on January 20, 2024, issued a notification regarding the introduction of the New Freeze Reason Code for Legal Entity Identifier.
The following has been stated: -
•DPs are advised to refer to CDSL Communique no. CDSL/OPS/DP/POLCY/2023/435 dated July 28, 2023, regarding Mandating Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) for all non – individual Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs).
•In view of the above communique, DPs are informed that a new freeze reason code “30” with the description “LEI Expiry / Lapse” has been introduced in the CDSL system.
•DPs are advised to take note of the above and initiate suitable back-office changes, if any.
