The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on January 23, 2024, issued the Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Amendment Rules, 2024, to further amend the Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 5, which states “Conditions of eligibility for Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility”, in sub-rule (b), the following shall be substituted, namely:
“b) The entity shall have approval for consent to establish (CTE) from the Pollution Control Board of the State or Union territory in which the Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility is intended to be located”.
• In rule 6, which states “Registration procedure for Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility”, after the words ―would be deemed approved, the words:
“If the 60th day falls on a non-working day, the following working day shall be considered” shall be added.
Objections and suggestions to these draft rules, if any, will be taken into consideration after the expiry of 30 days from January 23, 2024, by the Central Government and may be sent to the Additional Secretary (Transport), email: [email protected], Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street, New Delhi-110 001.
This notification will come into force from January 23, 2024.
