The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on January 23, 2024, invited comments/suggestions on the Draft Energy Conservation & Sustainable Building Code (Commercial and Office Buildings), 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•The Code is applicable to buildings or building complexes that have a connected load of 100 kW or greater or a contract demand of 120 kVA or greater and are intended to be used for commercial purposes. Buildings intended for private residential purposes only are not covered by the Code
•The code prescribes the following three levels of energy efficiency:
(a) Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code Compliant Building (ECSBC Building)
(b) Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code Plus Building (ECSBC+ Building)
(c) Super Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code Building (Super ECSBC Building)
•Section 3 lays down various definitions for terms like Commercial building, Compliance documents, and others.
•Section 4A is about the Sustainable Sites & Planning.
•Section 4B specifies the Building Envelope and other conditions related to it.
•Section 5 mentions about the Comfort Systems and Controls.
Any Comments/Suggestions may be submitted by February 12, 2024. The format for submitting the comments/suggestions is given in the document below.
