The Government of Kerala on January 25, 2024, directed all persons and establishments for mandatory food safety license/registration engaged in the production, storage and distribution/marketing of food items. The License/Registration must be secured before February 05, 2024.

Those who are trading only after taking registration should also get a new license. A fine of up to 10 lakh rupees will be levied under the Food Safety Act. It is possible to apply and get the certificate through Akshaya Kendras.
