The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) on January 26, 2024, issued the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Supply Code 2021 (Second Amendment) [ARG-1(II)(ii) of 2023], to further amend the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Supply Code, 2021 (No. RG- 1(11) of 2021).
The following amendments have been stated:
• After Clause 7.1, which states “LT Consumers without Maximum Demand (MD) based (two-part) tariff”, the following Proviso shall be inserted:
Provided that after the installation of the smart meter, in case, the recorded maximum demand exceeds the sanctioned load, for at least three billing cycles during a financial year, the sanctioned load shall stand automatically revised to the lowest of the maximum demand of all the instances when the recorded maximum demand has exceeded the sanctioned load in billing cycles. The revised sanctioned load shall be effective from the 1st day of the 1st billing cycle of the next financial year provided it is technically feasible to cater to enhanced sanctioned load from the existing supply arrangement.
Provided further that the *consumer shall pay the charges as applicable for enhancement of load specified in MPERC (Recovery of Expenses and other Charges for providing Electric Line or Plant used for the purpose of giving Supply) (Revision-II) Regulations 2022, as amended and execute a supplementary agreement, wherever applicable.
Provided also that in case of reduction of maximum demand, the revision of sanctioned load shall be done as specified in this Code."
This notification will come into force from January 26, 2024.
