The Pollution Control Board, Assam (PCBA) on February 02, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Registration of PIBOs under Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016.
However, it is observed that a large part of Category I Plastic Packaging, especially packaged water drinking bottles, introduced into the market are not properly accounted for in the centralized EPR portal.
Therefore, for proper implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 as amended, all PET Preform manufacturers located in Assam are directed to register through the centralized EPR (eprplastic.cpcb.gov.in) portal within 7 days from the date of issue of this notice.
Further, All PET preform manufacturers are directed to ensure that PRT Preforms with water packaging capacity of less than 500 ml are not supplied to Packaged Drinking Water producing units
