Labour ComplianceThe Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on February 08, 2024, issued a notification regarding the identification of the coverable but not covered units.

The following has been stated: -

•A Committee was constituted by the Director General to decide the SOP for Joint Exercise for Coverage without inspection. The committee deliberated upon convergence at the field level through interaction with State Government, Industry associations, Trade Unions, and DTBWED for the identification of missing units and IPs.

•After examination it is advised that all the filed units may take the following action to find missing coverable units and IPs:

1. Data from industry associations can be collected and analyzed to identify missing units\IPs.

2. Data from OIL companies can be obtained to decide coverage of petrol pumps and gas agencies.

3. Data from the GST\Income tax department can be collected to obtain the status of the units (running\closed).

4. Data from Education boards can be obtained to decide on coverage of schools and educational institutes in respective States.

5. Data of the wage protection system (as prevalent in Kerala state) can be taken and analyzed to determine the wages and IPs of a unit to unearth under-reporting.
