Labour ComplianceThe Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on February 08, 2024, issued instructions regarding repetitive instances of Local Purchase for drugs listed in valid/ Extended DG-ESIC RC's/CPSE drugs (under Pharmaceutical Purchase Policy) on GeM.

The following has been stated:

• The inventory stock should be closely supervised to decrease instances of Stock out of respective drugs as well as stop local purchases in emergencies. 

• Close watch should be maintained on the Reorder Levels and monitoring should be done to maintain an optimal buffer stock.

• There should preferably be no instances of Local Purchase for drugs listed in valid/extended DG-ESIC RCs and CPSE drugs (under Pharmaceutical Purchase Policy) listed on GeM.

• In case of Non-supply by approved pharmaceutical firm/s in DG-ESIC Rate contract/s in the prescribed period, it is further directed that: 

a. Immediate stock assessment should be done and appropriate extension/ cancellation of supply order with movement to L2/L3 (as the case may be) should be exercised.

b. Procurement of DGESIC RC listed drugs in valid/extended DGESIC Rate Contracts by the user units should preferably be made from GeM in due adherence to prescribed procedure and due diligence of Make in India Clause (as applicable) with best pricing options instead of Local purchase from empanelled Chemists.
