The Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoL&E) on Feb 08, 2024, notified regarding the Standard wage rate for migrant workers.
The following has been stated:
• It has been stated that the Inter-State migrant workmen shall in no case be paid less than the wages fixed under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
• It has promulgated various Acts/Rules to address the human rights violations of the citizens and atrocities including inter-state migrant workers.
• It has issued comprehensive Advisory Guidelines to all the States/UTs for COVID-19 safety and welfare of the migrant workers returning to their workplaces in the destination states.
• It has stated that in order to resolve the grievances of workers including migrant workers during the lockdown, the Ministry of Labour and Employment set up 20 Control Rooms all over the country.
