The Government of Karnataka on February 09, 2024, issued the Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licences) (Amendment) Rules, 2024, to further amend the Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licences) Rules, 1967.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 17-A, which states “Transfer in the event of death”, for the words “In the event of death of the licensee or the lessee”, the words and figures “In the event of death of the licensee or the lessee on or after January 01, 2000”, shall be substituted.
• In rule 23, which states “Shifting of shops”, after the third proviso, the following proviso shall be inserted, namely:
“Provided also that, subject to rule 5, other restrictions specified in the first proviso shall not apply to the shifting of such discontinued CL-2 (Retail Shop) licences revalidated and renewed in the event of death of the licensee or the lessee on or after January 01, 2000”
This notification will come into force from February 09, 2024.
