EHS ComplianceThe Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) on February 08, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Reduction in Compliance Burden TPIA for Prototype and Batch Wise Inspection of Cylinders Valves and Regulators.

It is clarified that where prototype testing has been carried out by BIS, the batch/lot testing shall be conducted by BIS. However, if batch/lot testing is required by the manufacturer to be conducted by TPIA other than BIS, the manufacturer shall approach BIS to nominate/authorise TPIA for conducting batch/lot testing. After the batch/lot inspection by the said TPIAs nominated by BIS, the test certificate for the cleared lots will be issued by the certification officer of BIS in the respective BIS branch officers.

In the cases where the prototype testing has been conducted by TPIA other than BIS, the batch/lot testing shall be conducted by such TPIAs only and certificates for the cleared lots shall be issued by the same TPIA.

This shall be strictly complied with by all manufacturers with immediate effect.
