The Government of Kerala on February 13, 2024, issued a notification regarding the waiver of penalty interest on property tax.
The following has been stated: -
•Penal interest on property tax payable in local self-government bodies has been waived till March 31, 2024. The action is a part of intensifying property tax collection. This exemption will help in paying off property tax arrears. For those who currently pay penalty interest along with property tax, this amount will be adjusted in next year's property tax.
•Property tax arrears of previous years can also be paid without penalty and interest.
