The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJ&E) on February 16, 2024, issued the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules, 2024, to further amend the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In rule 15, which states “Rules for Accessibility”, in sub-rule (1), after clause (j), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:
“(k) Guidelines for Accessibility Standards in Port Sector, as specified in the notification of the Ministry of Port Shipping and Waterways, Government of India vide notification number F. No. CD-11053/63/2021-Coord, dated November 08, 2023.”
This notification will come into force from February 16, 2024.
