Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Chhattisgarh on February 19, 2024, issued a notification regarding the amendment to the rule of general application under the Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915.

The following has been stated: -

•Clause (b) of sub-rule (1) of rule 1, is substituted as follows, namely –

Near any religious or educational institution, any hospital, any colony of members of Scheduled Castes (minimum 100 families), any labour colony (minimum 100 families), petrol pump, or where the approval of the State Government has been obtained, except where such shop is situated at a distance of more than 100 meters from such place.”

•Clause (d) of the Explanation of Rule 1 should be deleted.

•Clause (c) of Explanation 1 of Rule 1 should be deleted.

•In sub-rule (2) of rule 3, it substituted as follows, namely -

"(2)No agent shall be allowed to bid unless he holds a registered power of attorney from his principal or unless such principal is present in person and bids on his behalf to the agent. does not authorize its installation.”

The notification will come into effect from February 19, 2024.
