CBIC amended the notifications related to exempting certain goods from Customs duty

Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on February 21, 2024, issued a notification regarding amending notification 55/2022-Customs, dated October 31, 2022, and notification no. 64/2023-Customs, dated December 07, 2023, related to exempting certain goods from Customs duty.

This shall come into force on February 22, 2024

The following has been amended namely: -

• In the notification 55/2022-Customs the following has been amended namely: -

(i) in the  Table,  S.  No.  2A and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted

(ii) in the Annexure, condition number 5 shall be omitted.

• In the notification No. 64/2023-Customs,   dated  December 07, 2023, the following shall be amended namely: -

(i) In the opening paragraph,  for the words and figures “leviable thereon  under the said section of the  Finance Act, 2021 (13 of 2021), namely:-”, the words and figures “leviable thereon  under the said section of the  Finance Act,  2021  (13  of  2021),  subject to the condition as specified in column (4) of the said Table, namely:-” shall be substituted

(ii) for the Table in paragraph 2 shall be substituted with a new table.
