The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeITY) on February 26, 2024, published the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Interception, Monitoring and Decryption of Information) Amendment Rules, 2024 to further amend the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Interception, Monitoring, and Decryption of Information) Rules, 2009.
This shall come into force on February 26, 2024
The following has been amended namely: -
• In rule 23 which states “Destruction of Records of interception or monitoring or decryption of information” in sub-rule (1), for the words “security agency”, the words “competent authority and the security agency” shall be substituted.
