The Government of Kerala on February 28, 2024, notified that the State Medical Council has mandated recognized qualification and Medical Council registration, to examine and treat patients in the field of Ayurveda in Kerala.

According to Section 37 of the existing Kerala State Medical Practitioners Act and its sub-sections, those who do not have the recognized qualification and Medical Council registration (Registered Practitioner) are liable to a fine of two lakhs to a maximum of Rs.10 lakhs and imprisonment from one year to four years or both.
