The Government of Kerala on February 02, 2024, issued the Kerala Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill 2024, to further amend the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1994
The following has been amended namely: -
• In Section 189 which states “General Powers of Government to issue Guidelines and Conduct Inquiry” in sub-section (1) of section 189, after the words “welfare programs” the words and symbol “waste management.
• It states that in the heading of Chapter XX which states “Public safety, convenience and Health” the words ‘And Health’ shall be substituted by the words and symbol “, Health and Waste Management”.
• In section 219 A which states “Village Panchayat to Arrange for removal of waste, rubbish and Filth” the following shall be inserted namely: -
“219AA. Village Panchayat to carry out directions of Government”
