The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) (For the UT of J&K and the UT of Ladakh) on February 28, 2024, notified the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh (Renewable Purchase Obligation & its Compliance) Regulations, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•Regulation 2 lays down various definitions for terms like Captive User, Central Agency, and Distributed Renewable Energy.
•Regulation 3 is about Obligated Entities.
•Regulation 4 mentions that the Operating Period of the RPO framework specified under these Regulations shall commence from FY 2023-24 and shall be valid until March 31, 2030.
•Regulation 5 is about the Quantum of Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO).
These regulations shall apply to the whole of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir and the UT of Ladakh.
These Regulations shall apply to all Distribution Licensees, captive users using other than Renewable Energy Sources exceeding 1 MW, and Open Access Consumers with a contracted demand exceeding 1 MW from sources other than Renewable sources of Energy.
These regulations shall come into force on March 01, 2024.
