The Government of Kerala on March 04, 2024, notified the Kerala Municipality (Amendment) Act, 2024 further to amend the Kerala Municipality Act,1994.
The following has been stated: -
•In section 58, after the words and symbol “welfare programs,” the words and symbol “waste management,” shall be inserted.
•After section 325 and above the heading “Management of waste”, “CHAPTER XVIA” shall be inserted.
•The following section shall be inserted, namely: - “325A.
Definition. —For the purpose of this chapter and section 58, “waste management” means the segregation, collection, transportation, storage, processing, or disposal of waste, including solid waste.
•After section 326 of the Act, the following sections shall be inserted, namely: - “326A which states that Council to carry out Government directions.
Items (i) and (vi) of section 25 shall come into force at once and the remaining sections shall be deemed to have come into force on December 09, 2023.
