EHS ComplianceThe Government of Uttarakhand on January 13, 2024, issued Nagar Panchayat, Sultanpur Adampur Solid Waste Management Bye-laws 2023.

The following has been stated: -

• Bye-laws mention the Segregation and collection of solid waste at source-

(i) It will be mandatory for all waste generators to regularly segregate and store solid waste generated from their own sites. This separation will be done mainly into the following 3 categories: -

(a) Household hazardous waste and waste of all three categories shall be kept in covered waste bins and

(b) Non-biodegradable or dry waste

(c) Biodegradable or wet waste

(ii) It will be mandatory for every bulk waste generator to separate the solid waste generated at its own sites and store it in the following 3 categories: -

(a) Non-biodegradable or dry waste 

(b) Biodegradable or wet waste

(c) process the hazardous waste, organic (wet) waste in suitable dustbins at their premises and then compost or Prepare biogas, etc., and hand over the separated waste to the authorized waste processing or disposal centers collection centers through the authorized waste collection agency and for the same, the transportation charges determined by the Nagar Panchayat from time to time.

(iii) Fine will be imposed on individuals, citizens, businessmen, shopkeepers, and institutions who do not hand over garbage to the civic body's personnel/environmental friend/authorized person/institution and who disrupt the cleanliness system or affect the cleanliness system.

•If any part of the above bye-law is violated, a fine of up to Rs 5000 can be imposed. If the violation continues continuously, in case of first conviction, an additional fine of Rs 5000 will be imposed at the rate of Rs 5 per day. Also, a case will be filed against the concerned person in the court and the expenses/damages incurred on it will be recovered from the concerned person like land revenue. The court area will be District Haridwar Nagar.
