The Government of Maharashtra on March 06, 2024, issued amendments in the Integrated and Sustainable Textile Policy, 2023-28.
The following amendments have been stated:
In 7.2.1 and 7.3.1 instead of the original provision regarding electricity subsidy to the cooperative textile sector as well as solar energy subsidy should be read as follows:
• All textile units (existing and new) will be provided electricity subsidy as per the rates given in 'Annexure A' for the policy period of Integrated and Sustainable Textile Policy 2023-28. There will be no upper limit for electricity subsidy throughout the policy period.
• Textile units will be given capital subsidies for setting up solar power projects (existing and new). The guidelines for solar power projects of all these textile units will be as follows.
o Detailed Project Report for solar project and technical sanction for solar project should be obtained from the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA). The prescribed fee for the same shall remain payable to Meda. According to Maharashtra state's non-conventional policy- 2020, it will be mandatory to register solar projects with MEDA.
o After the commissioning of the solar power project, a capital subsidy of 20 per cent of the solar power project cost or Rs.4.80 crore, whichever is lower, will be provided to all cooperative textile units.
