The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) on March 04, 2024, issued the Petroleum (Amendment) Rules, 2024 to further amend the Petroleum Rules, 2002.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Rule 2 which states “Definitions” have the following inserted namely: -
o (xiva) – Heavy machinery
o (xivb) – Heavy vehicles
o (xvia) – ISO tank container
o (xvib) – ISO tank container framework
• Rule 14A which states “Restriction on import and transport of ISO tank containers” has been inserted.
• Part IV which states “Importation by Air” has been inserted. It shall include the following namely: -
o 27A which states “Restriction on import by air” has been inserted
o 27B which states “Declaration and certificate to be furnished and licence to be produced before importing petroleum by air” has been inserted
o 27C which states “Permission of Commissioner of Customs to unload petroleum” has been inserted
